The traditional methods of preparing canvases, inherited from past generations, were refined by Victor Claessens in 1906 with the founding of a company to produce high-quality artist's canvas near the River Leie in Belgium. To this day, Claessens continues to use the original buildings in Waregem, relying on a small-scale production process which preserves their traditional methods. Much of the work is automated, yet the core of production has remained untouched to ensure Claessens' reputation as a renowned provider of artist's canvas beyond Belgium. borders of Europe. borders of Europe.
